Bongwe Safaris are actively supporting the Zap Foundation in Zambia that run health and education schemes around the Kafue Park. We can take our clients to see some of these projects if they choose and we ask them to bring along any clothes and books that they may like to donate.

KAFUE ACCOMMODATION

The Kafue Seclusion package offers our most rustic yet secluded accommodation.

The camp sits on the banks of the Kafue River and consists of thatched chalets with en-suite ablutions. All chalets have a view of the river and the gentle rapids of the river can be heard throughout your stay - some have said it sounds like being on the ocean. But you dont get the sounds of hippo, lion and the whooping of hyena near the ocean!

The camp is situated at the heart of one of the most protected areas of the Kafue National Park. For this reason, the wildlife is abundant and sightings of lion and leopard are not uncommon.

Our full time chef at the camp will ensure that you are well fed every day with a variety of hearty meals to suit all. Our delicious menu is provided by our restaurant kitchen in Lusaka so we always ensure great cooked breakfasts, 3 course dinners and fantastic picnic lunches and brunches. Tea and coffee is on hand throughout the day in camp as well as fresh juice and bottled water. A cash bar is also available for those that want something a little stronger.

Our Kafue Seclusion package is all about the safari. With maximum time spent game viewing either by car, boat or on foot, any time spent in camp is purely for nourishment, sleep and relaxation between the day's activities. Sitting around the camp fire after dinner is a great time to relax and talk about the days game viewing or to simply stare into the hypnotic "bush television" - the campfire.

Our chalets are all serviced with hot water and en-suite showers and the beds are comfortable and protected by mosquito nets. There are no glass windows in any of our chalets. Instead the windows are covered with gauze to protect you against any unwanted house guests but are otherwise open to the elements. So whilst you are certainly safe and secure, you are never disconnected from the wild allowing you to hear the bush as you slowly drift off to sleep.

There is a communal thatched sitting area as well as a dining area. We also have small thatched lappas, away from the camp, on the banks of the river for those that want to get away and perhaps read or have an afternoon snooze overlooking the river.

In this day and age, safaris in Africa have become very popular. As a result there are more people around that you are likely to bump into and there is more traffic on the park roads. There are very few truly secluded safaris available unless you want to pay the high prices that seclusion brings.

Apart from the rustic nature of the camp and its remoteness in the bush, the reason we have called this safari the Kafue Seclusion is because when you stay here with us you wont see another vehicle or boat for the duration of your trip. You will literally have the bush and the wildlife to yourselves.

This is a well and truly secluded safari experience with wildlife second to none. And being one of the most affordable safaris available, it's hard to find any reason not to join us.
